$5,000 Check to Charity

Beyond the competitive spirit and the race for the jacket, this tournament is built on a foundation of philanthropy. We are proud to announce that the winner will walk off the 18th green with a $5,000 donation check, ready to be sent to any charity they choose. Together, the DSO industry is teeing up for a lasting community impact.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the DSO Golf Championship?
It's the inaugural golf championship for the DSO industry and a two-person team tournament designed to crown the top golfers in the DSO space, sponsored by DentalXChange and hosted alongside Planet DDS in Scottsdale, AZ.
When is it?
March 31 at the Westin Kierland Golf Club, with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start. Arrivals run from 7:00–7:45 a.m., with a brief welcome at  around 7:55 a.m.
How much does it cost to register?
Registration is free for anyone working at a dental service organization, a dental group, or a DPO.
When does registration open?
Registration is open. Registration is subject to approval, and the field is capped at 144 players, so register early.
Who can play?
Anyone working in the dental service organizations can register, with priority given to experienced golfers. Dental technology/service vendors are limited so the field stays weighted toward DSO participants. If you're attending Planet DDS’ Orbit 2027 and want to attend The DSO Golf Championship, you'll receive a discount on your Orbit 2027 registration.
What's the format?

Teams of two play a full 18 holes (shotgun start, foursomes on each hole). Scoring uses a Stableford format, so once your team hits double bogey on a hole, you pick up your ball and move on.

No handicap? No problem; the format is designed so any skill level has a real chance to win.

How do teams get formed and flighted?
When you register, you'll list who you're playing with and each player's handicap. If you don't have an official handicap, you'll be asked for your average 18-hole score so we can calculate one. Don't have a partner? We'll match you with a suitable partner based on your handicap. Teams are grouped into flights by combined handicap, so you'll compete against players of similar skill.
What happens after the round?
The winning team from each flight advances to the best ball showdown, an alternate-shot, sudden-elimination format where flight winners tee off together, and one team is eliminated per hole until a champion is crowned. Ties are broken with a chip-off.
What happens after the Championship game?

Once the best ball showdown crowns a champion, everyone heads to a post-tournament cocktail reception right at the Westin Kierland. That's where the Blue Jacket is presented to the winning team, trophies go out for closest to the pin, longest drive, and longest putt, and the $5,000 charity check is revealed. Light bites and drinks are included, so stick around and toast the new champions.

The celebration doesn't have to end there, either. Orbit 2027, Planet DDS's annual leadership and user summit, kicks off the very next day at the same resort, two days of product roadmaps, hands-on training, and OrbitX sessions for DSO leaders. If you're playing in the Championship, it's an easy add-on to your trip, and you'll already have a discount on your Orbit registration waiting for you.

What do the winners get?
The best ball showdown champion will receive a DSO Golf Championship Blue Jacket. Trophies are also awarded for closest to the pin, longest drive, and longest putt.
Is there a charity component?
Yes, the winning team donates $5,000 to a charity of their choice and is presented with a ceremonial check during Orbit.
What's included in my registration?
The championship participation, green fees, golf service fees, full scoring, access to the practice facility and driving range before the round, access to the bar cart for snacks, non alcoholic beverages, and seltzers/beer, as well as admission to the awards ceremony.
Are club rentals included?
Yes, for DSO players. Vendor/sponsor attendees can rent clubs for an additional $119 plus tax directly from the golf club.
Will food and drinks be provided during the round?
Beverage carts will be out on the course throughout the day, and items will be complimentary. There isn't a sit-down lunch during play, most of the food happens at the awards ceremony.
What should I bring?
Bring your own clubs if you have them, along with essentials like golf balls, golf shoes, golf gloves, sunscreen, and tees.
I have additional questions. Who can I reach out to?
Feel free to reach out to Dascia Freeman at dascia.freeman@planetdds.com
